Investing in the future
As a socially driven organisation, we’re quite unlike other businesses. Profit is not at the top of our
list of priorities.
People always come first. And as part of that commitment we have ploughed much needed funds into
community projects. We set up a charitable trust, the Links Foundation, to distribute funding to
help people improve their local communities. Through the Foundation, we have distributed more than
£1.2m into worthy projects.
During the last year we have helped vulnerable and disadvantaged children at various projects in
Islington, Camden and Battersea in London as well as in North Shields in Tyne and Wear.
More than £23,000, for example, was donated to Friends United Network in London to help them tackle
the issues facing children. The Network provides support to children aged between five and 16 living
in the most deprived inner city boroughs.
Financial support has also been given to the charity, Future Skills Training, to help them fund a
programme to train and support young people who are not in education, employment or training.
Assistance was also given to the Northern Pinetree Trust, who help people with disabilities to become
self-employed.
